Given that whiskey-making is a Gaelic/Celtic art, how come the other Celts don't make whiskey?
For example, the Welsh, the people of Brittany [north-western France], the Galicians of Spain..... These peoples maintain some Celtic traditions, such as playing Celtic musical instruments, and speaking Gaelic languages. Why not whiskey-making?
(By the way, "whiskey" means "water of life" in Gaelic.)
Whiskey is a distilled grain beverage that gets its characteristic flavor from being filtered through burnt peat. Peat is common in Gaelic areas but not the others, especially not in Galicia!
